Nietzsche said, “He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster, when you gaze long into the abyss the abyss also gazes into you.” What do you think of when you read this?

The mind's role, apart from thinking, is to represent the outside world. So the more one is fighting against "monsters", who are a part of the outside world, the more he has to handle an inside representation of them. So the closer it gets to that wise goal "know your enemies", the closer he will produce the same mental paths, therefore the more he will be what he was fighting first...

Note: "will be" as a mental state, of course not necessary as a behaviour
