Everybody is using Linux, with or without knowing it. Every day.
—
Do you have an Android device? Then you're using Linux, like billions new devices activated every year.
Do you have an embedded computed inside your modern car? Most likely it's a Linux.
Do you go on internet and use Google Search? Then you're using Linux. Facebook? Linux. Instagram? Linux. Any website that is popular and works quite well? Linux.
—
Linux is a vague word, what precisely everyone is talking about when using this word is really something else: what they have in mind is Open-Source.
So, are you using Google Chrome? It is based on Chromium, an open-source project. Firefox? open-source. Internet? (the network) open-source. HTML + JavaScript? open-source. Wikipedia? open-source and open knowledge. Etc
If you don't notice a pattern here, look again. What humanity is doing right now never was done before in the history of mankind: we are opening and sharing everything. Knowledge is the most valuable asset down here, and we share it. And that, will bring the greatest peace ever on Earth.
—
It's not because everybody is sharing that you have to. You can stick to your ideas about the past and believe that it will be like that in the future: competition and rage. But the people will move on, with or without you. And keeping your eyes close won't help.
The dinosaurs who couldn't or didn't wanted to change after the catastrophic event, disappeared. So you're free to decide, your fate is in your hands, like it always was and always will be.
You see, life has a path, and that path is called “the future”. Life is by definition what has a future, what will be there. And you know what life is doing in order to achieve that success? It changes, it mutates, it adapts. If you use the same software as everyone else, you will face disasters, … Linux users won't.
