I’ve never had a traumatic experience and my parents aren’t abusive. I don’t have anxiety but I never feel safe. I always have this feeling that something bad is about to happen. I have dreams about bad things happening. Can one explain this?

Your consciousness is mainly here to help you cope with unlikely situations. If a situation is likely, you just need a brain, and every living creature with one on Earth will find a way to learn about it. Consciousness is for something else.

It’s an echo mechanism, that uses mainly the past to produce an idea about the future, an idea that doesn’t need to be realistic (think about sci-fi), it just needs to follow the rules that you know. Dreams are a simulation of possible outcomes.

Therefore when you dream you put yourself into an impossible situation, in order to grow, and learn from it. The thing with you is, you seem to remember then, and unconsciously believe in them. That’s two mistakes. Dreams are not meant to be remembered.

If I were you, I would try to increase my sleep quality, maybe also sleep more, and learn about Narcolepsy
