We usually call a “dimension” what needs to be addressed with a coordinate. For example, a particle will be somewhere in space and in time, therefore time would be a dimension from that point of view.
But, with that in mind, one could notice that in order to describe a system, temperature would need a coordinate as well for any point, if you stick with the idea that a coordinate is what can’t be deducted from the other informations.
Then the level of the magnetic field would as well need a coordinate for any point in space and in time, just like with temperature. And therefore that too would be called a dimension.

Right now in science we call all them, the necessary coordinates, “fields” and that would imply that a field, any field, is “located in” a dimension and is also “defining” a dimension, just by creating values in it.
The field is the set of values contained by the dimension, and the dimension itself is the container.
So values do exist and are “things”, and dimensions do not exist and they contain “in them” the things that do exist. The dimensions “host” reality.
